Week 96...6/13/16...HUGE MULTIZONE and San Marcos

This week we had a big Multi-Zone on Thursday with half of the Mission! And that's what I'll be writing on for most of the time.
We also went to Takalik again with President. So here some more photos of that. We were going to have the Zone conference on Tuesday but there was a ton of rioting on the way the Maquina because of the terrible roads. They decided to protest on all of the main roads so we had to cancel the meeting. We also went to drop off Elder Damas in his new area in the mountains! He was super excited because he never had been to the mountains before! But that was basically all this week. Plan, Meeting, More planing and driving.

But the MultiZone was amazing. I want to share with you everything that we learned and shared so that you can be a strengthened as I was.

As many of you know  the month of May we broke the record of the mission with 262 baptisms. However, we know that we really weren't the missionaries who broke the record. We were covered completely by God's grace to help us meet our goal. Usually every week when we report dats we see a similar tend of Falling Fechas, or baptism dates that fall though or pass to the next week. When we report 50 fechas or dates only 35 get baptized or when we report 30 its 20 or 25. It seems to always decrease. When we reported to President Ruiz on Tuesday 50 Fechas the thought was we would end the week with 30. But that wasn't the case. Every day due to the diligence of the missionaries and the Grace of God, the leaders reported to us that more people had accepted to make a convent with God and take the first step of baptism. We finished the last week with 95 people who had been baptized and confirmed members of the church.

Now don't get the wrong idea. I just used a lot of numbers and many people might think that all we do is chase numbers. But the actual number doesn´t mean anything. It's what is behind the number. Think about it this way. If we had made the record of only 261 baptisms this month what would that mean. That means one of God's Children didn't take one of the first steps to live with him again at that moment.  That's another child of God who cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven, another family that cannot be made eternal, another brother of mine that I wouldn't see in the Celestial Kingdom. There is so much behind this numbers. I could tell you at least 100 of the stories that happened in this month of May. It was surely a miraculous month.

But how does that happen. How does a mission reverse its projected result from always going down in projected baptisms to going 125% more that expected?  Grace. Grace is the answer. And that is what I would like to talk about today. What is Grace? Many might have a different perspective of what it is. But here is what I have learned from President Ruiz and my personal experience.

Notes from the Multizona.

Hermana Ruiz:

There is a difference between joy and pleasure. Joy is eternal.  Pleasure is temporary. Seeking after the pleasures of life will take away the true eternal joy in the life to come.  Satan is so cunning . He makes us think we are winning something when we are really loosing everything.

Be obedient!

We talked about defending your area.
We talked a lot about Alma 48: 13-17 and 19 and how we should be like Moroni.
The missionaries assigned to each area are the only ones that can preach the true gospel of Jesus Christ in that area.

We also learned about the talk from general conferences by LYNN G ROBBINS called '' What manner of Men or Women ought ye to be?'' But we talked about what manner of missionaries ought ye to be.

The difference of ser and hacer or to be and to do. We have to do both. To be and not to do its like faith with out works. And nothing can really be done. To do and not to be is being a hypocrite. We have to be and do. Always like the Savior taught in 3 Nefi 27:21(do) and 27:27(be)

Presidente Ruiz
Grace is to receive the help and blessing of God after we do ALL that we can.
What we call miracles the last week of May was the Grace of The Lord.
Grace is the best way to know if we are in the way of The Lord.  If our offering is being accepted, if our family is or will be blessed and if we will enter into the celestial kingdom. If we aren't seeing the grace of God we must change something.  Sometimes we don't receive God's blessings because we can't identify the Grace in our lives.

5 steps to receive grace.
1.  Faith in Jesus Christ Romans 5:1-2
2.  Repentance
3.  Humility Ether 12:27
4. DO ALL THAT YOU CAN Mathew 13:3-9
5. Guard the Commandments

President Ruiz also talked to us about many times in his life he has seen miracles brought about by the Priesthood Power of God. He says it all comes by the Grace of God.

This all came from a talk by JEAN COOK. I'm not sure where the talk is but the way Presidente Ruiz shared the message was incredible. The Spirit was so strong.

Week 95...6/1/15...Happy Memorial Day, new record in Mission Reu and lots and lots of interviews

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!! First of all, a special thanks to all those who have given their lives so that we may enjoy the freedom in ours. I'll always say that I love this country of Guatemala but nothing can replace the good ole USA!!!
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY FROM THE OFFICE!!!! Thanks to all those that have served and will serve our country! WE LOVE AMERICA!!!
This week was a miracle week here in the Mission Retalhuleu! We started this week out with a great P-day. We headed to Monterrey with our Zone and we played a large version of hungry hungry hippos. We made wood squares and then we put wheels on the bottom. Then we blew up 400 balloons and we tied rope to the carts. Then we had to collect all of the balloons and whoever got the most won! It was a blast! Then we played broom ball and a chair soccer game. It was a blast!

Tuesday was a blast! We headed out early to get to Tecun. We went on some crazy divisions with the mini missionaries and the Zone Leaders. I went with Hermano Motta we did a few interviews in Tecun. Then we jumped on a bus and we headed out to Ocos. Ocos is a port town that is super far way on the ocean edge. We went with Elder Montepeque and Elder Figueroa we went to do two interviews. One of them was a joven that was super cool! He had such a great spirit about him and really wanted to change his life around. Then we talked to the husband of the family that Elder Montepeque had prayed to find. They both were baptized this Saturday. Then my companion came to pick me up and we headed to take the Hermana out of Libertad and brought them to Coatepeque. We stayed the night in Coatepeque becuase it was already late.

Wednesday we headed back to Tecun to finish an interview. We started our fast to pray for miracle in all of the mission. We then came back to Coatepeque and along the way did an interview for the Hermanas in Dalmacia,  Hermana Jessop and Herman Meza. And the girl they had been teaching also got baptized on saturday! We then went with the Zone leaders Elder Hill and ELder Mendez to go interview in Magnolia. Then we went on divisions to La blanca and El Amparo. I did 3 Interview in la Blanca while elder Hill did some others with Elder Peralta. I went with Elder Garcia who is super dope! While my companion was in Amparo with Elder Mendez doing some more interviews. In total today was a day full of interviews!

Thursday we left from Coatepeque and got to Reu to take care of some office business and then we headed back to Coatepeque to drop off a projector. Elder Kahl and Elder Taylor and I booked it to Mazate to go with a family in La Union wth Hermana Eaton and Hermana Hill. Wow! They are both super pilas. We talked to Sulma and Julio and we finished the lesson all kneeling and praying to have Sulma Julio receive and answer as to if the should be baptized on Saturday. Sulma really felt The Spirit and told us that she would think and pray again tonight. (We were super happy the next day when the Hermanas went back with them and they told us that Sulma was going to be baptized!) After that we made our way home to Reu.

Here they came out with Gatorade in a Glass bottle!!!!! Its insane!!!1
Friday was a full day of interviews. We first went to our weekly meeting with Presidente to do some of the changes in the mission because we were planing on having the changes on Monday. We headed back to Coatepeque to do a bunch more interviews! It was amazing! I interviewed a girl named Rosa. I went with Elder Garoz, they had been teaching their family for a little bit but when we challenged her to be baptized she said she wasn't sure. But we taught her the doctrine and she told us that she felt like she needed to do it!  So the next day she, her Husband and her sister-in-law were baptized! That night we had to go with the Zone Leaders to help them buy more ropa bautismal there were so many people accepting the invitation to be baptized! That night in the daily dats, we had over 100 people that had accepted to be baptized! Which in one day was about 30 more that we had anticipated. The Lord really had been preparing the hearts of these people and they just needed someone to invite them to be baptized.

We were in charge of the receiving all of the beds in Coatepeque

We waited for the Zone leaders in Tecun in their matching hammocks. It was awesome.
My comp got a little sleepy.

Elder Montepeque (my Grandson) Hermano Mota and Elder Figueroa
Saturday we stayed to be in the baptisms that happend with Distrito San Bernardino. Then we came back to Reu because we were expecting to have to go to Coatepeque to help them with some more interviews. However right after we ate we got a call from the Zone Leaders from Mazate Lincoln asking us for more help interviewing. They had a lot of people in Cuyo that had been really close to accepting to be baptized this week. So we drove once again to Cuyotengango. We got to be present in one of the baptism they were having and then we went to interview everyone we could.

I had the privilege to talk to a lady named Blanca. She is married and has two kids and had been going with a friend to church for a few weeks. I talked with her and she told me she knew that the church was true and was thinking about being baptized. After finding her worthy to take that step, I asked her when she wanted to be baptized. She replied that she wasn't sure if she was prepared and would like more time to think about it. I told her that Our Heavenly Father always had a time prepared for every one of His Children and we can ask to know what His will is for us. She accepted the invitation to pray and ask God if she could be baptized that week. She offered one of the most humble prayers that I've heard and she pleaded to Heavenly Father to let her know if she was ready. She burst into tears and ended her prayer. The spirit was so strong and overwhelming. I asked her what she felt and she said that she felt like God was telling her that she was ready to be baptized. She was baptized on Monday.
We headed out to eat in Taco Rico. Magic never Ceases!!!

These burritos were soooo good!!

Helping out in Coatepeque with Elder Solis and Elder Contreras. Elder Mendez and Elder Hill were doing interviews so we waited out side.

Sunday was a great day. After going to church we went to the office to figure out all of the final results. In 2014 the mission Retalhuleu had 214 Converts to the church and that was the record of the mission. However in this time the mission had about 240 missionaries. Now that we are only 182 missionaries we were so pumped when we found out that the final results were we had 262 new converts the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints THIS MONTH OF MAY! For us it was a miracle! We know that The Lord had blessed us with people to teach due to our fervent prayers and fasting as well as our obedience and diligence to the work. In this month of ANIMAYO there were so many miracles! I know that The Lord always is preparing people to receive His restored gospel. If we pray with real intent and do our part He will do his and we will find people to teach.
